The Western Regional Enterprise Network Connector Program began in April 2017 as a one-year pilot project. As one of the first rural regions to deliver the program, we expanded intake to include new and returning residents, under-employed skilled workers, and both local and international graduates. Since launch, the program has been well received by both the business community and residents across the region, with 40% of participants securing employment through program connections.
In 2025, the program expanded its focus to include the Direct Entry Pathway, reflecting a firm commitment to strengthening and expanding the skilled trades landscape in Western Nova Scotia. This shift supports employers who are ready to train, while creating accessible, paid, and tuition-free career pathways for individuals seeking long-term opportunities in the trades.
