Cape Breton Connector Program Coordinator
The Cape Breton Partnership began administering the Connector Program in June 2017. The Program works closely with Nova Scotia Works, government partners, municipalities, and immigration and community organizations across Cape Breton to help people build roots, find opportunities, and grow their careers here at home.
The program has two streams designed to support different career paths:
TradesConnect
Helping youth and emerging talent enter skilled trades.
This stream supports direct-entry opportunities for youth interested in trades careers such as Construction, Manufacturing, Motive Power, and Service.
We work with employers and partners to help youth explore trades, gain work experience, and transition into apprenticeships and employment.
What this supports:
• Youth retention and job placements
• Apprenticeship readiness
• Skilled trades workforce development across Cape Breton
CareerConnect
Supporting graduates and newcomers as they build their professional network.
This stream supports secondary and post-secondary graduates, local and international as well as returning Canadians and newcomers who are looking to connect with employers and industry leaders in Cape Breton.
What this supports:
- Graduate and newcomer retention
- Professional networking and employer connections
- Career pathways across multiple sectors
Across both streams, the Connector Program matches participants (Connectees) with professionals/Employers (Connectors) who share insights, guidance, and connections to help new talent succeed and feel at home in Cape Breton.
